Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients: - Presence of a severe single or recurrent depressive disorder with or without psychotic symptoms (according to ICD 10: F32.2, F32.3, F33.2, F33.3) - ability to give consent Healthy controls: - Ability to give consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients: - Presence of a severe somatic or neurological disease - Pregnancy and breastfeeding Healthy controls: - Presence of a psychiatric, severe somatic or neurological disease - Pregnancy and breastfeeding

| At the time of a high symptom load: cMRI, blood sampling (determination of various inflammation parameters, including interleukins, CRP), questionnaires (including QIDS, MADRS).
