Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) age = 18 years (2) Relevant neurological deficit, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) =6 (3) Admission to hospital within 6 hours of symptom onset. (4) Evidence of an occlusion of the M1- or M2-artery on computed tomography (CT)-angiography or evidence of intracerebral hemorrhage in a supratentorial location

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Prior history of stroke (TIA, ischemia, hemorrhage) within the last months. (2) Known history of brain Tumor (3) Traumatic brain injury within the last 3 months (including head impact at symptom onset)

MeasureTime frame
Description of a specific pattern of multispectral ultrasound distinguishing patients with ischemic from hemorrhagic strokes.

(1) GFAP Serum Level (including a comparison of diagnostic accuracy with the ultrasound results) (2) Volumetry of intracerebral hemorrhage according to the axbxc^2-method (3) Severity of the clinical neurological deficit on hospital admission according to the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (4) Time between symptom onset and collection of blood sample
