Group 1: Baseline visual acuity and macular perimetry are recorded. An 11-degree wide grid of 20 cross-shaped LED fixation targets centered on the MAIA standard round fixation target (MAIA Multi-fixa
(phase 2) detecting cross-shaped targets with the help of eye movements and operator guidance based on the central round target as a landmark

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - presence of a bilateral dense central scotoma within 2 degrees of the fovea - consent to study participation - ages 18 - 99 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - major cognitive impairments that could impede participation in the study
