Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Consenting adults (age 18-85 years) in good general condition - Magnification requirement for the better eye: 2x and 12x - central scotoma (e.g. age-related macular degeneration, hereditary macular dystrophy) - German as mother tongue

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - peripheral visual field defects (e.g. due to glaucoma, optic nerve disease or retinal vascular disease) - mental disabilities that make reading intellectually difficult - persons with pre-existing reading disorder, e.g. dyslexia

MeasureTime frame
The following question should be clarified: Is there a difference in the measurement and evaluation of reading speed between our newly developed longer reading texts IReST or the short Radner texts?

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Are there differences between patients and normal seeing people? Is a correction factor necessary when determining the reading speed with different reading texts? A correction factor could be used to compare the results of studies that were determined with either longer texts (e.g. IReST) or short sentences (e.g. Radner reading boards).
