Group 1: Patients with clinical indication for electroconvulsive therapy (series as well as maintenance) Group 2: Patients with focal epilepsy who are in the epilepsy-monitoring unit of the department

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Signed informed consent - Clinical indication for electroconvulsive therapy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Acute or chronic severe neurological disorder aside of epilepsy; - acute or chronic severe Systemic disease - Dementia; - Organic affective disorder; - Chronic substance abuse apart from nicotine; - Lack of insight to study or forced hospitalization as of the laws of lower-saxonia (§1906 BGB)
