Group 1: Patient recruitment will be based on the epilepsy outpatient clinic and the epilepsy monitoring unit of the University Medical Center Göttingen. Decisions for epilepsy surgery will be made so

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Medication refractory epilepsy (as of current Guidelines of the ILAE); - Decision for resective epilepsy surgery based on an interdisciplinary case-conference

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Idiopathic generalized epilepsy
