Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • All genders • Age = 18 years • Elective surgery • General anesthesia with administration of muscle relaxants • Additional criteria depending on the part of the study: Part A (vocal cord opening): intubation Part B (diaphragm): upper abdominal laparotomy Part C (lower leg muscles): knee surgery with tourniquet
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Neuromuscular diseases • Allergy to muscle relaxants • contractures on the fingers • pregnancy • Additional criteria depending on the part of the study: Part A (vocal cord opening): indication for rapid sequence induction and (expected) difficult airway, hyperkalemia Part C (lower leg muscles): amputation of the big toe on the side to be operated on, polyneuropathy, peripheral arterial disease (= stage 3) • Patient rejects the study • Simultaneous participation in another study • Limited ability to provide information and consent, support
