Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: unilateral total knee replacement, a minimum of 6 months need to have gone by since total knee arthroplasty

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: neurological diseases, injuries of the lower extremities in the past 6 months, osteoarthritis in the other joints of the lower extremities

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome parameters are maximum isometric hip and knee strength, hip and range of motion. These parameters are compared between the operated and non-operated side. Furthermore, the effect of these potential side differences are examined on gait and balance. Maximum isometric strength is tested in hip extension, flexion, abduction and adduction and well in knee extension and flexion. Range of motion of the hip joint is measured in an active movement in hip extension, hip flexion and hip abduction. The range of motion of the knee joint is quantified in an active movement in knee flexion and knee extension. For the gait analysis spatio-temporal gait parameters as step length, step time, single-leg stance etc are analyzed. Balance is measured in the double-leg, tandem and single-leg stance on a force plate. The questionnaire Oxford Knee Score is used to obtain data of pain and physical function of the operated knee.
