Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients with high-grade asymptomatic> 60-70% stenosis of the ACI according to NASCET criteria and flow-velocity of over 250-300 cm / s, as well as symptomatic patients with over 50-99% stenosis of the ACI and flow-velocity of over 200 cm / s are examined. Our inclusion criteria thus correspond to the group for which there is an indication for performing a CEA according to the guidelines of the "European Society for Vascular Surgery".
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Serious systemic inherited or acquired diseases, especially psychiatric or neurological diseases. - Contraindications to performing an MRI scan. - Previous operations or carotid interventions or interventions that significantly affect carotid anatomy, such as radiation in the neck area. - Patients who show severe morphological changes in the MR examination.
