Inclusion criteria: cardiac surgery at the University Heart Center Freiburg - Bad Krozingen

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients unable to give consent, minors

concentration of free radicals postoperatively in relation to the preoperatively measured concentration

mortality, usage of catecholamines and vasoactive drugs, days on intensive care unit, days in hospital, incidence of wound healing disorder, duration of invasive ventilation, duration of non-invasive ventilation, total duration of ventilation, concentration of endogen antioxidants postoperatively in relation to the preoperatively measured concentration, incidence of postoperative infections, total days of treatment with anti-infectives
