Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) First acute cerebral stroke 2) Aged 18 years and over 3) Ataxia of gait and/or stance and/or sitting and/or positive heel-shin slide (assessed with "Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia - SARA"): score of at least 1 point in SARA 4) Berg Balance Scale (BBS) = 47 points 5) Written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Cerebral stroke in case history with persistant neurologic deficits (mRS = 3) 2) Comorbidity which would restrain the participation (e.g. life expectancy less than 3 month, alcohol or drug abuse) 3) Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) = 5 4) Any physical or mental condition the investigator believes would not allow safe participation in the study or would complicate assessment of outcomes (e.g. dementia, cardiac insufficiency, severe Aphasia, people having a procurator appointed, etc.) 5) Pregnancy 6) People fulfilling military service

Changes in Balance - measured using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) at baseline (day 1) and post-intervention (after 4 weeks) (between-group difference)

Changes in Balance , measured using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), between baseline (day 1) and follow-up (3 months), and post-intervention (4 weeks) and follow-up (within- and between-group difference) Changes between assessments at day 1, after 4 weeks, after 3 months (within- and between-group differences): 1. Changes in walking ability - measured using the TuG, FAC, SARA Scores 2. Changes relating to balance ability - measured using FRT, Number of falls, posturography (Tymo) Changes between assessments after 4 weeks, after 3 months (within- and between-group differences): 3. Changes relating to balance ability - measured using FGA 4. Independence in activities of daily living is measured using the Scores of Independence for Neurologic and Geriatric Rehabilitation (SINGER) 5. Quality of life is measured using the EQ 5D 3L
