All patients who were admitted to the operative intensive care unit of the Ulm University Hospital, Clinic for Anaesthesiology and were delirious at the time of admission

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Necessity of intensive care therapy (emergencies or elective operated patients with postoperative ICU monitoring) Age> 18 years Minimum stay in the intensive care unit of at least 24 hours sufficient knowledge of German (understanding and language) Agreement to participate in the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Age > 18 years less than 2 consecutive readings of esterase activity missing declaration of consent (verbally and or in writing)
