Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Necessity of intensive care therapy (emergencies or elective operated patients with postoperative ICU monitoring) Age> 18 years Minimum stay in the intensive care unit of at least 24 hours sufficient knowledge of German (understanding and language) Agreement to participate in the study
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Age > 18 years less than 2 consecutive readings of esterase activity missing declaration of consent (verbally and or in writing)
