Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Prevalence of stage II periodontitis according to the latest classification - Age: = 35 years - at least 10 natural teeth - Ethnic affiliation: Test group: Vietnamese of Asian descent, control group: German ofCaucasian origin - Relationship ratio: no relation of the study participants to each other
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Subgingival periodontal therapy within 6 months prior to sampling - Systemic antibiotic therapy within 3 months prior to sampling - Pregnancy / lactation - General diseases with known association to periodontitis (diabetes mellitus, CHD, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis) - Taking medications that could exert a significant influence on the periodontal or inflammatory response (individually according to the decision of the study investigor)
