Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Substance use disorder, meeting the criteria for ICD-10 F10-F19. Age > 18. Inpatient at one of four participating treatment centers.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients that are not competent to give an informed consent. Medical contraindication for exercise.

| Acute effects of exercise on mood. Mood will be assessed using the Feeling Scale, a Visual analog scale. Reports of mood immidiately before the intervention groups and control group will function as a baseline measure for that group. Participants will be asked to rate their mood "at the moment". Participants will be asked to rate mood immidiately before, immidiately after the conditions, then at one, two and fours after the conditions. | — |

| Positive and negative affect, craving, state anxiety and self-esteem will be measured by self report questionnairs, (Positive and negative affect scale and Rosenbergs self-esteem scale. State anxiety and craving will be measured with VAS scale, rating level of anxiety "at the moment". Questionnaires filled in before each condition will function as the baseline for that condition. Measures will be repeated immidiately after, one,two and four hours after the conditions. Participants will be asked to rate the level of exertion on Borgs RPE scale, immidiately after exercise to measure intensity. Biomarkers: Cortisol measured in saliva immidiately before and four hours after the conditions. Objective measurement of intensity: Puls watch. Participants will wear puls watches during all conditions to assess maximum and average heart rate. | — |
