Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: As volunteers, only people with an intermediate level of education who speak German, are mobile and participate in the 1-day workshop will be considered. For the participants of the intervention, the maximum cognitive impairment should be slight, which corresponds to a value of = 20 in the Mini-Mental Status Test (MMST, Folstein et al., 1990) (see DGPPN & DGN, 2016, S3-Leitlinie Demenz). This ensures that the intervention can take place without close professional support. Also, only the first signs of depression should be present, operationalized with the value of = 8 in the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS, Sheikh & Yesavage, 1986), since a preventive measure is evaluated here. From values between 5 and 8 in the GDS psychological support is consulted.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Persons who do not meet the above criteria.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| As a primary outcome, the quality of life and depression of volunteers and participants in the group and individual interventions are assessed from t0 to t1. t1 takes place after a 3-month intervention phase. WHOQOL-OLD, WHOQOL-BREF (Conrad et al., 2016) and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS, Sheikh & Yesavage, 1986) are used as test methods for this purpose. The stability of the effects is evaluated by comparing t1 to t2. t2 takes place after a 3-month intervention-free phase. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| As a secondary outcome, the effects of the measure on self-esteem and life satisfaction are evaluated. The German versions of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES) (Collani & Herzberg, 2003) and the Life Satisfaction Index A (LSI) by Neugarten, Havighurst and Tobin (Wiendieck, 1970) are used. The secondary outcome is assessed at the measurement points t0, t1, t2. Other aspects examined at the above-mentioned measuring points are self-help ability with the Barthel Index (Mahoney & Barthel, 1965) and communication ability with the Communicative Effectivennes Index (CETI, Lomas et al., 1989). However, these two assessments are only used on residents. | — |
