Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: diagnosis of community acquired bacterial meningitis (detection of pathogen in cerebrospinal fluid; alternatively cell count >1000/µl, protein >100 mg/dl and liquor/serum glucose 3,5 mmol/l)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: age <18 years, hospital-acquired meningitis
