Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) completed active periodontal therapy (2) presence of radiographs not older than 1 year at time of re-examination (3) presence of complete periodontal status (pocket probing depths and attachment level at 6 sites per tooth, furcation involvement, bleeding on probing) (4) presence of an interleukin-1 polymorphism test

pocket probing depths (measured to the nearest 1 mm using a millimeter-scaled periodontal probe as the distance from pocket bottom to the most apical point of the cement-enamel-junction) taken from the periodontal chart, which was also used to determine the primary endpoint.
