Group 1: Insertion of the wound drain during parotidectomy Group 2: No insertion of the wound drain during the parotidectomy

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - benign tumor of the parotid gland - regular preoperative function of the facial nerve - No continued therapy with anticoagulants or vitamin K antagonists - primary surgery - Age > 18 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Tumors of unclear dignity or malignant tumors of the parotid gland - Preoperative facial nerve palsy - revision surgery - Inner lobe tumor of the parotid gland - Ongoing therapy with anticoagulants or Vit.K antagonists that cannot be paused for surgery - pregnancy
