Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The sex, the age of the subjects and the duration of exposure (period during which patient transfers were performed) are considered inclusion criteria. Only women are included in the study, as over 80% of the nursing staff in Germany are women in health care and nursing as well as in geriatric care (Destatis 2015). In addition, the assessment criteria for determining a BK 2108 for women and men are different. Judging by the MDD criteria, women already reach the technical working conditions from a value of 8.5 MNh (see also point 2.1). In a systematic review, prognostic factors for acute back pain were investigated. Among other things, the female gender and older age were identified as predictors of long-term illnesses. In addition, patient transfers should have been carried out regularly for at least five years. In order to detect differences between the groups, the proportion of women with degeneration of the intervertebral discs should be appropriate. Therefore, the age of the women included in the study is set at 40 to 60 years. It is assumed that the probability of degeneration of the intervertebral discs increases from the age of 40 and is between 10 and 20%. Since age-advancing degenerations are to be discovered, the maximum age is set at 60 years.

The aim of the planned study is to use magnetic resonance imaging to determine criteria for women in the assessment of disc-related diseases of the lumbar spine.

In addition, the musculoskeletal complaints of the cervical spine and lumbar spine are recorded using a standardized questionnaire.
