Group 1: In this retrospective data analysis data were compared 6 months before and 6 months after the introduction of the electronic diabetes management system (GlucoTab) on a medical ward.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: •Type 2 diabetes mellitus or recent / diagnosed hyperglycaemia • Age> 18 years • treatment with "free therapy"

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: •Type 1 diabetes mellitus, pancreoprive diabetes, gestational diabetes • Pregnancy • Continuous parenteral nutrition • IV insulin therapy • Treatment with the decision support component of GlucoTab®

Mean daily blood glucose level

• Number of daily blood glucose measurements • Oral antidiabetics • Insulin doses (basal insulin, bolus insulin, mixed insulin, daily insulin, and correction insulin dose) • Midprandial (morning, noon, evening) and bedtime blood glucose • hypoglycaemia ( 180mg / dl,> 200mg / dl,> 300mg / dl) • concomitant medication that influences the glucose metabolism (eg cortisone) • Number of patients receiving free therapy (paper-based or GlucoTab®-based) vs. Decision Support Therapy according to GucoTab® • Blood glucose control comparison with GlucoTab® decision support vs. free therapy
