Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Are there significant differences in the hiatal diametres of patients (measured by photographically documented, gastroscopical evaluation) with and without reflux symptomes? Do the herniated volumes of patients (calculated using lenght and diametre) with and without reflux symptomes differ significantly? The questionnaire "Refluxbeschwerden" consists of informations about frequency and type of symptomes.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Establishment of a new procedure to evaluate axial hiatal hernia by verification of significant higher correlations between symptomes/herniated volumes or diametre and symptomes/ axial lenght. Establishment of a measuring method to distinct between anatomical and extra-anatomical reasons for reflux disease by roling out the hiatal hernia as refluxes cause.
