Group 1: All participants will be interviewed according to a semi-structured interview guide.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participation one of the following clinical trials assessing the efficacy of deep brain stimulation for depression: FORESEE (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01095263), FORESEE II (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01778790), FORESEE III (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03653858); Active treatment with DBS over the duration of at least 2 weeks

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute psychotic or manic episode
