Interventions

Group 1: No intervention. Just a postal survey of patients who were operated because of a hallux valgus and where a magnesium-based screw was used for the osteotomy.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Hallux valgus surgery using magnesium-based compression screw, not later than Dec 31, 2017. - Mild or moderate hallux valgus pre surgery. - No objection against use of data.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients treated during the learning curve of the surgeon -hallux ridigus (ICD M20.2) pre surgery

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction in pain recalled from pre surgery to past week. Both scales are adapted from the foot function index (FFI) in its validated German version.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Proportion of patients free of pain during past week. - FFI during past week, domains pain and function. - Quality of life as measured with the EQ-5D-5L during past week in its validated German version. - Manchester-Oxfort Foot Questionnaire (MOXFQ) during the past four weeks in its validated German version. - Correlation between FFI and MOXFQ. - Correlation between date of surgery and FFI. - Correlation between date of surgery and MOXFQ. - Satisfaction with outcome of surgery. - Wearing shoes and walking pre surgery and during past week. - Type of pain pre surgery and during past week. - Importance of use of bioabsorbable screw pre surgery and during past week. - Position of big toe pre surgery and during past week. - walking ability pre surgery and during past week.
