Inclusion criteria: Autism Spectrum Disorder (DSM-5) or typically-developed control, age 1;6 – 6;11
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Non-verbal IQ/DQ 65) or SRS-2 t-score (interpolated from SRS-16) > 75.

| Primary outcomes: All primary measures will be derived from eye-tracking data. This includes gaze behavior and pupil dilation data. Pupil dilation (PD) as mean pupil dilation across stimulus-onset time is subdivided into several measures according to specific tasks: • Tonic PD: Mean pupil dilation during phases with stimulus presentation. If this is not applicable by task design, tonic PD is defined as mean pupil dilation during the first 200ms after stimulus onset. Previous studies had shown that stimulus-dependent pupillary reactivity roughly occurs 300ms after stimulus onset (Mill et al., 2016) • PD variability: Standard Deviation of pupil dilation across stimulus-onset time. • PD time course: Trajectory of pupil dilation during stimulus-onset time. Thus, PD time course is operationalized as PD repeated measure over the number of measurements. Differences in PD time course are deviating linear and polynomial slopes. Recently, the pupil dilation time course was subdivided into components representing different stages of stimulus processing (Geva et al., 2013). This will be investigated exploratively. • Pupillary Light reflex: Pupillary reactivity amplitude and latency to sudden and substantial luminance changes. This measure of basic pupillary functioning is also applied as covariate in stimulus-dependent pupil dilation measures. Gaze behavior is defined as eye muscles movements in retinal fixation of objects. Gaze behavior consists of fixations and saccades. Fixations are phases without substantial eye muscles movement, in which visual information is processed. In contrast, saccades are rapid eye muscles movement in between fixations. The following measures of gaze behavior are investigated: • Fixation duration: Mean fixation length measured in seconds. Fixation duration is an established measure of overt visual attention.
