Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Consecutive participation in the study is offered to patients of all ages and sex after Kausch-Whipple surgery (pylorus-preserving or with partial gastric resection) for pancreatic head carcinomas. Prerequisites are the patient's ability to consent and a physical condition that permits chemotherapy and the intake of a 200ml protein-rich standard drink.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: Patients with metastatic or inoperable pancreatic head tumors.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Serum albumin levels, fat-free body mass and quality of life are recorded four times over a period of 13 weeks. The serum albumin level as the primary endpoint is measured by blood collection and laboratory determination. Fat-free muscle mass is determined by Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) and quality of life is measured using QLQ C30.
