Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Elective planned cardiac surgery using the heart-lung machine: a. Aortic valve replacement with or without bypass b. Aortic valve reconstruction with or without bypass c. Mitral valve replacement with or without bypass d. Mitral valve reconstruction with or without bypass 2. Informed consent 3. German as first language

| The neuropsychological outcome is measured preoperatively, at discharge from rehabilitation, and at 3 and 12 months after discharge from rehabilitation with a detailed, objective psychometric test battery. The subjective self-assessment and external assessment of cognitive deficits and health-related quality of life are measured preoperatively and at 3 and 12 months after discharge from rehabilitation with standardized questionnaires. Anxiety and depression are measured preoperatively, at discharge from rehabilitation, and at 3 and 12 months after discharge from rehabilitation using standardized questionnaires. | — |
