Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosed Sepsis due to the Sepsis III Definition And 2. At least two fullfilled SIRS (Systemic inflammatory response syndrome) criteria

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Antiplatelet therapy (ASS, ADP-receptor-antagonists and GPIIb/IIIa antagonists) and/or NSAR (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories) in the last four weeks 2. Age < 18 years 3. Congenital or acquired thrombocytopathies 4. Status after splenectomy 5. Pregnancy 6. Immunosuppressive therapy (Chemotherapy, transplant patients) 7. Diagnosed heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT 1 or 2)

1. Clinical evaluation of the ADP (adenosine diphosphate), thromboxane, and glycoprotein activated platelet function on day 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 14 after a diagnosed sepsis 2. Determining the predictive value, as well as the specificity and the sensitivity of collagen as a platelet activating substance 3. Compare the acquired date with other laboratory values for sepsis (PCT, CRP, leukocytes) 4. Analyse the correlation between the above mentioned parameters and further microbiological examination (blood cultures, tracheal secretion, urine) in the course of detecting the root of an infection
