Group 1: Patients with polyneuropathy.
The primary aim of this project is to investigate the pathophysiology of pain and pruritus in patients with peripheral neuropathy. We plan to investigate 180 pat
we aim to classify these patients by using questionnaires, clinical examinations, sensory testing (QST), neurophysiology and pruritus induction. We expect to identify phenotypic patterns that distingu

| The target value is the average nerve fiber density, IENFD, measured as fiber per millimeter. The following five groups will be compared regarding the IENFD: 1. pruritus and pain, 2. only pain, 3. only pruritus, 4. no pruritus and no pain, 5. healthy controls. A Kruskal-Wallis test (non-parametric test) will be used as the statistical test. During the examination, a biopsy will be taken to measure the nerve fiber density. Furthermore, the patients will be asked to complete a questionnaire. | — |
