Group 1: Sepsis patients blood sample day 0 (admission to ICU), day 1, day 3, day 7, day 14: sedimentation rate, leukocyte cytometry, cell metabolism (seahorse) Group 2: cardiac surgery patients blood

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a. Sepsis b. Cardiac surgery (CABG, valve implantation) c. Abdominal surgery (liver, pancreas, intestinal surgery) d. healthy controls

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: age under 18 years, immunosuppression, immunodeficiency

Measure	Time frame
Patients will be followed for the specified period or until their death. Immunophenotypic markers are correlated with the onset and / or severity of sepsis and the survival of sepsis.	—
