Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing open thyroidectomy or open parathyroidectomy and are able to give their written consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: patients who are unable to give their consent and patients who do not approve

| Evaluation of the sensitivity of autofluorescence and indocyanine induced fluorescence in identifying parathyroid tissue. Intraoperatively, autofluorescence and indocyanine induced fluorescence are assessed and documented. A grading will not be carried out. | — |

| As devascularized parathyroid tissue is unable to incoporate the fluorophore, existing fluorescence is an expression of intact vascularisation. The extent of fluorescence will be visually determined using a threefold grading (good fluorescence, reduced fluorescence, no fluorescence) and compared to the visual image of the parathyroid gland in normal white light.
