Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - both-sided presence of an impacted and/or retained third molar - completed root growth of the neighbouring second molar - participation in a follow-up examination 6 months after surgery - no systemic diseases - written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - missing both-sided presence of an impacted and/or retained third molar - incompleted root growth of the neighbouring second molar - nonattendance in a follow-up examination 6 months after surgery - presence systemic diseases - missing written informed consent
