Group 1: N = 15 individuals with heightened alexithymia levels (scores = 51 on the Toronto Alexithymia Scale 20
TAS-20) are randomly assigned to a smartphone-based intervention. One day before the 14-days training period began the participants were invited to a counseling sessions. Group 2: N = 14 individuals w

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - heightened levels of alexithymia (scores = 51 on the Toronto Alexithymia Scale 20; TAS-20 - access to a smartphone using Android (version 4.0 or above) - sufficient German language skills

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Younger than 18 years old, no access to a smartphone using Android 4.0 or above, Totonto Alexithymia Scale score < 51

MeasureTime frame
After 14 days: emotion recognition skills as assessed by number of correct pairings in a computer-based two-choice task paradigm. (categorizing pictures portraying two different facially expressed emotions with the correct label)

After 14 days: Alexithymia was assessed with the TAS-20 global score.
