Group 1: Homeparenteral (additional) nutrition: Patients waiting for LTX (liver transplantation) receive individual home-parental nutrition in addition to an optimized oral nutrition. Control every 4

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Age >18 years • Confirmed liver cirrhosis • Option for liver transplantation • Malnutrition (NRS-2002 =3 points; Kondrup et al. 2003) • Signed informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who are not able to have a permanent central venous catheter placed

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
• Improvement of nutritional status according to BCM (body Cell Mass) measured by BIA • Improvement of QoL (by questionnaire) controlled every 4 weeks until LTX/death, for maximum 12 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• Muscle strength • Infections (hospitalization and/or antibiotics) • Weight course • Plasma protein/albumin • Mobility • Mortality • Reaching transplantation
