Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis osteoarthritis (except the control group and the group of life partners), planned total arthroplasty, independence in activities of daily living (with assistance of the partner).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Wheelchair use, need for long-time care, other diseases which lead to decreades physical acitivity levels (e.g. stroke, multiple sclerosis, parkinson and cancer). Cognitive deficits which prevent written informed consent.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Registration of habitual physical acitvity of osteoarthritis patients, their partners and healthy subjects (control group) by means of longterm accelerometry.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of quality of life and habitual physical activity of all subjects (osteoarthritis patients, life partners and controls) by means of interviews and questionnaires. Data acquisition is conducted prior to accelerometry. We will use validated questionnaires for the assessment of health-related quality of life and physical activity in everyday life).
