Interventions

Group 1: Patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 receive support via SMS-messaging service for several weeks during the (re-)adjustment of their basal insulin rate

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients diagnosed with Diabetes mellitus type 2 for one year or longer; therapy: oral antidiabetics with planned introduction of basal insulin OR readjustment of basal insulin rate

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: diagnosed enhanced insulin sensitivity that prohibits application of standard insulin titration algorithm diagnosed reduced hypoglycaemia awareness
