Interventions

Group 1: Interventional = Internet-intervention "Deprexis" is aimed at treating depressive Symptoms
Deprexis consists of ten modules with therapeutic content plus one summary module, addressing essential components of evidence-based depression treatment, broadly based on cognitive-behavioral therap
Intervention period was 8 weeks
Prior to and after the intervention period, an online survey was conducted to gather demographic and psychopathological information, clinical anamnesis (e. g. current treatments, use of drugs and self
gains access to Deprexis after completion of the post survey

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Age: 18 to 65 years old - consent to participate in study (informed consent) - internet access - sufficient command of the German language - willingness to participate in two anonymous online surveys, each of which lasts approx. 25-30 minutes - willingness to participate in an 8-week training program - willingness to use the program on one's own responsibility - willingness to provide an e-mail address - presence of at least moderately pronounced depressive symptoms

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - presence of lifetime schizophrenia or bipolar disorder - presence of acute suicidal tendencies

MeasureTime frame
Patient Health Questionnaire - 9 items depression module (PHQ-9): Self-rating questionnaire to measure depressive symptoms over the past week (at baseline- and post-assessement).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS): Self-report measure to screen for pathological gambling (at baseline- and post-assessement). Pathological Gambling Adaptation of Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (PG-YBOCS): Self-report questionnaire that measures the severity of gambling symptoms within the past week (at baseline- and post-assessement). General Anxiety Disorder Screener (GAD-7): Self-report questionnaire to assess different levels of anxiety over the last two weeks (at baseline- and post-assessement). Web Screening Questionnaire (WSQ): Brief online self-report screening instrument to capture common mental disorder (only at baseline-assessment) Subjective Appraisal: Participants in the treatment group were asked for their subjective evaluation and appraisal of the intervention (only at post assessment).
