Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Categorial or dimensional (BDI >10) diagnosed depressive disorder. Inpatient psychodynamically oriented psychotherapy in one of the participating psychosomatic hospital units.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age beyong max. or min. Age. Important comorbid disorders with brain-related or cognitive impairment, severe substance abuse or substance dependency (without F1x.1); reliable bipolar disorder (F31.x, F34.0); depressive disorder with psychotic symptoms (F32.3, F33.3); current psychotic disorder (F2x.x); Anorexia nervosa (BMI < 14); presence of dementia (F0x.x), severe physical illness not allowing an evaluation of psychological processes; disagreement of study-consent-forms

Extent of depression-typical impairment at discharge in inpatient psychotherapy. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods (T-Test, ANOVA, regression-analyses). Data collection by standardised questionnaire (self-assessment and third-party-assessment; BDI, SCL-90-S, BSS, GSDS-33).

Extent of improvement in psychodynamic constructs (organisation of defence) at discharge from inpatient psychotherapy. Survey by IPO-16. Statistical procedures: T-Test, ANOVA...)
