Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • COPD (GOLD II-IV, B-D) • admission to a hospital during an acute exacerbation of COPD • older than 40 years of age

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • missing consent • other pulmonary diseases except COPD • cognitive impairment • malignant diseases (life expectancy < 6 months) • unstable coronary diseases
