Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with chronic Pruritus of the forearm

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were Diabetes mellitus, polyneuropathia, neurologic diseases, chronic pain conditions, lesions or open wounds of the forearm, gravidity, skin infections, drug addiction, mental diseases, other dermatologic diseases, lidocaine allergy and marcumar. .

MeasureTime frame
Perceived stress, heart rate variability and QST (Quantitative Sensory Testing). The acute stress perception is assessed by visual analogue scales (VAS) before and after a standardized social stress test (Trier Social Stress Test); heart rate variability is monitored by ECG; Quantitative Sensory Testing was performed with a QST-Kit. Chronic Stress Levels are assessed by the Trier Inventory for Chronic Stress (TICS), stressful childhood experiences by the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ).

MeasureTime frame
Pruritus intensity, Intraepidermal nerve fiber density, associations to anxiety and Depression. Pruritus intensity is measured before and after the stress test by visual analogue scale; Intraepidermal nerve fiber density is assessed by biopsy, coloration and by microscope; anxiety and Depression are assessed by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
