Interventions

Group 1: Arm 1 Dual task training with balance- und coordination exercises, Arm 2 strength and resistance training Both interventions are conducted for 12 weeks with 1 Session each week (1 hour) Grou
one hour each). Group 3: Control group. The control group did not receive any intervention for twelve weeks.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: independent living, ability and mobility to join the group training sessions

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: acute or chronical diseases with a documented influence on balance control (e.g. Parkinson’s Disease; Diabetes); use of gait assistance (e.g. walking canes, frames, rolling walkers); cognitive impairment.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
30 minutes walking test: Gait variables of step length, step width, and gait line as well as the vertical maximal impact and normalized to body weight were measured as main outcome variables. Measurements were taken immediately prior to the first training session and immediately after the final session.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The 16 Item Falls Efficacy Scale-International (German version) was used to measure fear of falling. Measurements were taken immediately prior to the first training session and immediately after the final session.
