Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Changes in body weight are observed over a period of one year. At the beginning (first examination date) the subjects are weighed. Then they get access to the mobile app and should use it daily for a three-month application cycle. The body weight is measured again after one month (second examination date), after three months (third examination date), after six months (fourth examination date) and after twelve months (fifth examination date).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Body composition: By a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), muscle mass and fat mass are determined at the beginning (first examination date), after one month (second examination date), after three months (third examination date), after six months (fourth examination date) and after twelve months (fifth examination date). Blood parameters: Blood samples are taken at all five examination dates to determine blood glucose levels ??(glucose, HbA1c, insulin), blood fat levels ??(cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) and stress hormones (cortisol, ACTH). Sociodemographic data: At the beginning (first examination date), general data on household size, education and employment are collected via a questionnaire. Goals of weight reduction, self-image and self-efficacy related to the body weight are recorded through questionnaires at all five examination dates. Eating habits (how do I eat?) and eating behavior (why do I eat?) are collected via questionnaires at all four examination appointments. In addition, the health-related quality of life and life satisfaction are recorded by questionnaires on all five examination dates.
