Group 1: Intervention group: Baobab Juice (30g baobab pulp powder, 220 water, mango aroma und honey) is offered during five school days for the period of 12 weeks.
Group 2: Control group: Same drink

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Pupils from the sampled school, haemoglobin =12.5 g/dl.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Acute or chronic disease that require treatment and/or medication, eat and swallowing disorders, metabolic- or gastrointestinal disease, malnutrition and symptoms of vitamin- or nutrient deficiency.

| Nutritional status, as BMI: measured before and after the intervention. Body height and weight are taken with calibrated stadiometer and scale Mineralstatus and Vitamin A: measured in venous blood before and after the intervention. Analyse of (a) Ferritin, C-reactive Protein(CRP), Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein(AGP), Retinol binding Protein(RBP) through ELISA Kits; und (b) Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphate, Zinc and Copper through atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). CRP & AGP concentration are used for interpretation of ferritin values Morbidity: is assessed before and after the intervention by means of tested quantitative questionnaires for symptoms during the last sechs weeks (diarrhoea, respiratory infection, fever) | — |
