Group 1: Measurement of ventilation and the expiratory time constant by EIT in acute exacerbation.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma or COPD with non invasive ventilation. Age = 18 years. Placement of EIT belt possible.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pacemaker or internal defibrillator, large wounds at the thorax in the area of the belt, patient that cannot give informed consent.
