Group 1: Alzheimer patients receive at baseline, after 12 and 24 months an imaging examination and a cognitive testing.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) dementia diagnosis according to DSM-IV criteria, (2) non-institutionalization and no need for 24-hour care, (3) availability of a caregiver who agrees to provide information on the patients’ and his/her own condition.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) if informed consent cannot be given by the patient, (2) other co-morbidities
