Group 1: Strength training with a combination of Sling Training/Suspension Training and training with other equipment, e.g. elastic bands (warm-up and strengthening exercises for 7 main muscle groups)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: informed consent, diagnosis of schizophrenia according to DSM-V, total postive and negative syndrome scale score 75 or lower, reliable contraception in women of child-bearing age

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: lack of accountability, substance abuse at screening (except benzodiazepines), serious suicidal risk at screening visit, other relevant interferences of axis 1 according to diagnostic evaluation (MINI), other relevant neurological or other medical disorders, pregnancy or lactation

WHO Disability Assessment Schedule, 36-item interview (4 time points: baseline, after 4 weeks, after 12 weeks, after 18 weeks)

MeasureTime frame
muscle strength, isometric maximal test of 4 main muscle groups (3 timepoints: baseline, after 12 weeks, after 18 weeks) - metabolic profile, blood analysis, BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure (3 timepoints: baseline, after 12 weeks, after 18 weeks) - PANSS-score, Positive and negative syndrome scale (3 timepoints: baseline, after 12 weeks, after 18 weeks) - cognition (e.g. Verbal Learning and Memory Test, VLMT) (3 timepoints: baseline, after 12 weeks, after 18 weeks)
