Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Systemically healthy individudals that are 18 - 60 years old. A minimum of 20 teeth. Gingival index = 2 Plaque index = 2 Patients who have not received any antimicrobial treatment for the past 3 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individual that are unwilling to participate or to co-operate. Pregnancy, smokers or patients with any known condition for which prophylactic antibiotic treatment is required. History of sensitivity or suspected allergies after the use of pomegranate. Individuals using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, mouthwashes or vitamin supplement within the past 3 months. individuals who had periodontal therapy within the past 3 months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome will be measuring the following: - Löe and Silness (1963) Gingival bleeding index (GBI) - Silness and Löe (1964) plaque index (PI) The scheme will be as follows: - Scaling at day 0 - Professional irrigation will be done at day 0, at day 7, and at day 15. - PI and GI measurement will be done at day 0 - day 15 - day 30.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary outcome will be measuring the following: - Gingival crevicular IL-1ß level Gingival crevicular IL-1ß level will be assessed at baseline day 0 and day 30.
