Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a) diagnosis of dementia or “suspected” dementia b) Alzheimer disease or vascular dementia or other primary dementia c) mild to moderate stage of dementia (MMSE 10-24) d) ambulatory ability of about 10m with or without walking aid e) consent of the general practitioner

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a) secondary dementia b) other serve cognitive impairments c) other serve neurological disease d) other serve disease of acute stage e) serve motor impairments

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Balance: FICSIT-4 Scale; Mobility: Timed Up & Go Test, 6m Walk Test; Gait: Gaitanalysis with GAITRite (single and dual task); Examination of the primary outcome at baseline and after the intervention of 16 weeks

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Strength: modified 30 Second Chair Stand; Activities of Daily Living: Erlangen Test of Activities of Daily living, Physical Performance Test adjusted 7-items, Barthel Index; Lower limb function: Short Physical Performance Battery; Global Cognition: Mini-Mental State Examination; Learning and Memory: California Verbal Learning Test, Digit Span Test (forward and backward); Language: Regensburger Wortflüssigkeitstest; Processing Speed: Trail Making Test A; Visual spatial Cognition: Clock Drawing Test; Examination of the secondary outcome at baseline and after the intervention of 16 weeks
