Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria include psychiatric Axis I disorders (as measured by the SCID I interview) except for patients alcohol and nicotine abuse and depressive symptoms, neurological disorders, MRI specific criteria (pace maker or implanted metal), positive drug screening, at least 3 days without psychoactive medication before the first measurement, pregnancy and suicidal tendencies.
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Neural correlates of reward and emotion processing in patients and healthy controls will be assessed at two time points by means of fMRI. While the first measurement (at baseline) will identify common and/or distinct neural signatures underlying the comorbidity of alcohol dependence and depression, the second measurement (after 6 weeks training) allows investigating the influence of the psychotherapeutic interventions on these target brain mechanisms. Consequently, in this study neural activation and connectivity in the reward system and default mode network are the primary outcome measures. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The questionnaire data is collected for all subjects before the first fMRI measurement. For the comorbid patients, the same data is recorded in addition to the second fMRI measurement and 3 months later.
