Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with F2-diagnosis or F3-diagnosis in the age between 18 and 65 years of age will be recruited at the psychiatric outpatient clinics of the Bezirkskliniken Schwaben, including the outpatient clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy II of the University of Ulm at the Bezirkskrankenhaus Günzburg as well as the psychiatric outpatient clinics in Augsburg, Kaufbeuren, Kempten and Memmingen.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who follow a strict diet (e.g. for weight loss) will be excluded. Patients with F1-diagnosis (addiction) are not allowed to participate.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Several methods (digital method, food diary, weighed protocol, food frequency questionnaire) will be compared regarding feasibility, accuracy and patients’ satisfaction on a descriptive level in order to examine the primary endpoint “general practicability”. Mainly descriptive and qualitative methods will be chosen to evaluate the feasibility of the digital method. The number of food pictures per day, the number of non-evaluable pictures and the number of non-evaluable assessment days will be descriptively presented. Moreover, the number of queries to study participants (at visit 2 and visit 3) will be documented. A trial-specific satisfaction questionnaire will be used to assess the feasibility of the assessment methods from the patient’s point of view. The questionnaire has already been applied in other trials aiming to evaluate the digital method in different study populations at the University of Ulm. The open text fields in this questionnaire will be examined for hints regarding feasibility. The data from both survey periods will be summarized. The software “DGExpert” will be used to estimate nutritional values based on food pictures, weighed protocols and food diaries. Nutritional values, that were assessed using different methods, will be compared. Intrapersonal fluctuations in nutritional values between both survey periods will be evaluated. The results regarding feasibility, patients’ satisfaction and accuracy with different assessment methods will be summarized in a table. Based on this table recommendations for use of assessment methods for further research projects can be derived.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The dietary behavior of patients with mental disorders will be rated in the context of nutrition science. An app concept for secure exchange of diet pictures will be prepared aiming to improve the ease of use of the digital method
