Group 1: Patients undergoing bariatric surgery complete questionnaires before, within 6 and within 24 months after surgery.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Body mass index >= 35 kg/m², eligible for bariatric surgery according to German S3-guideline, written informed consent given.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: insufficient speech comprehension to complete questionnaires, unability to give written informed consent

Analysis of physical and mental quality of life before, within 6 and within 24 months after bariatric surgery with the short form health survey 36	—

Analysis of body image and self-efficacy before, within 6 and within 24 months after surgery with the body image questionnaire and the generalized self efficacy scale. Analysis of differences in weight loss, quality of life, body image and self-efficacy between genders, types of operation and age groups before, within 6 and within 24 months after surgery, respectively. Analysis of correlations between weight loss and quality of life, body image and self-efficacy as well as between quality of life, body image and self-efficacy before, within 6 and within 24 months after surgery, respectively.	—
